Privasee ("we", "our", or "us") is dedicated to transparency and protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information our browser extension collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it.

1. What Information We Collect

To function, Privasee must analyze the websites you visit. We collect:

  • Domain Names: The domain name of the websites you visit is sent to our backend servers to check the analysis cache and to query public data breach registries.
  • Page Content (Limited): If you are viewing a Privacy Policy, we may extract the visible text and send it to our servers. If extraction fails, our backend server may fetch the public URL directly.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

  • No Personal Accounts: We do not track who you are. We do not require an account and we do not use tracking cookies. Note: Our cloud hosting provider may temporarily retain standard server access logs (which can include IP addresses and requested URLs) for security and operational health.
  • No Intimate Data: We do not read your passwords, form inputs, or the content of non-policy pages. If a page does not match our strict "Privacy Policy" heuristics, the extension's content script ignores the page text completely.

3. How We Use the Data

  • Providing the Service: The domains and policy text are sent to our backend API, our AI provider (Google Gemini) for summarization, and a breach registry (HaveIBeenPwned) for security context.
  • Caching: We store the resulting AI summaries in a managed database (Upstash Redis) mapped to the domain name for up to 14 days. This allows us to serve instant results to future users who visit the same website, without re-analyzing the text.

4. We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your browsing history or data to third parties. Our sole purpose is to protect your privacy, not exploit it.

5. Third-Party Services

  • Google Gemini: Used to analyze the extracted policy text.
  • Tavily: An AI search and web crawling API used to locate and extract public privacy policies if we cannot extract them directly. We only share the public website domain or URL with this service; we never share your personal data.
  • Upstash Redis: Used to cache the generated summaries by domain name.
  • HaveIBeenPwned: Used to check the requested domain for past data breaches.

6. Your Consent

By clicking "I Agree, Let's Go!" on the initial onboarding screen, you consent to the collection of domain names and policy text as described in this policy. If you do not consent, the extension will remain completely dormant and will not transmit any data.
